Easy Grilled Glazed Chicken Legs – The Perfect Meal After Pressure Washing the Deck

Summer means grilling season—but it also means yard work season. Between mowing the lawn, scrubbing patio furniture, and, in my case, spending three gruelling hours pressure washing the deck, the last thing I wanted to do was cook something complicated.

That’s where these Grilled Glazed Chicken Legs come in.

This recipe is my go-to when I need something quick, easy, and ridiculously satisfying. After a full afternoon of sweat and soap suds, I didn’t have the energy for a full-on meal prep session. I needed something I could throw on the BBQ with minimal effort—but still feel like I actually cooked.

Cooking Process…

Just season the chicken legs with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, toss them on the grill, and brush on a super simple glaze made with water, honey, and soy sauce. That’s it. No marinating. Great flavour with very minimal work.

The glaze caramelizes beautifully as it grills, giving the chicken that perfect balance of sweet, salty, and smoky. It’s a low-effort, high-reward dish that’s ideal for a busy summer evening.

I pair this with a creamy macaroni salad.

  • Prep Time: 10 mins

  • Cooking Time: 30 mins

  • Total Time: 40 mins

INGREDIENTS
Chicken
  • 3–4 chicken legs (drumsticks and/or thighs)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Garlic powder, to taste
Glaze
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/8 cup soy sauce
GUIDE / INSTRUCTIONS
  • 1
Pat chicken legs dry. Season all sides generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • 2
Heat your BBQ to medium-high heat (around 375–400°F).
  • 3
In a small saucepan, combine water, honey, and soy sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Let it cook for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat.
  • 4
Place the chicken legs on the grill. Cook for about 25–30 minutes, turning every 5–7 minutes for even cooking. Brush the glaze onto the chicken throughout the entire grilling process, reapplying each time you flip the pieces to build a sticky, flavourful coating.

Chicken is done when the internal temperature reaches 165°F and juices run clear. The skin should be nicely browned and caramelized.
  • 6
Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
